Saint Barthélemy, West Indies
For St. Barth’s Hotel Guanahani, Pons created a unique and immersive lifestyle experience that sophisticated travelers crave, and luxury hoteliers leverage to differentiate themselves within the highly competitive hospitality industry.
Set within the arc of Caribbean islands that reaches from the Dominican Republic to South America, Hotel Guanahani presented an opportunity to develop an authentic tropical design language rooted in the history and culture of the region. The Panama Hat, an artisanal product of Ecuador, along with campaign furniture and the colonial Caribbean style served as the inspirational objects and ideas.
The renovation for this boutique hotel showcased the authentic character of the island as well as the existing beauty of the hotel’s cottages. Integration of form and function, lightness, craftsmanship, and versatility were at the core of Pons’ approach. Every element used in the renovation was part of a design system that allows the hotel flexibility in use and implementation. Furniture, accessories, and amenities were all conceived as families of products that reflect the brand identity and enhance the guest experience.
